A Day On The Ranch

About Us

We are located near Belgrade, the heart of Nebraska with rich farm ground and lush native pastures, on the beautiful Cedar River valley. Leonard Scott settled here in the 1930's where he raised and sold plow pulling draft horses. He started out with a small herd of Herefords and was one of the first to bring irrigation to Nance County. Ron Scott (Leonard's son) continued the commercial cattle business and farm operation which has now been in succession for over 80 years.
Marlin (Ron's son) and wife Kelly started an AI program in the 1980s. Top end cleanup bulls were purchased to keep bettering our herd and eventually creating one of the leading commercial recipient herds in the nation. SAC started out using our recipient herd for Schaff Angus Valley, Assman Land & Cattle, and Baldridge Brothers. We went on to raise many well-known SAV ET bulls: Predominant, Bismarck, President, Rainfall, Quarterback, Elation, Bloodline, Scale House, Riptide and Jesse James to name a few.
After 2014, Marlin and Kelly's daughter Abby and husband A.J. Ropers and son Sam and wife Stephanie Scott joined the ranch operation. They invested in cow/calf pairs and purchased additional pasture ground and dry land acres. Currently, all three families manage the ranch together.
SAC currently does private treaty sales for registered cows, virgin heifers, bred heifers, late bred cows, and yearling bulls. Commercial calves are weaned in the fall. Heifers are evaluated for herd replenishment or sale, and steer calves are marketed.
We looked to improve our registered herd by elite female purchases in the last couple years. Sitz Pride 200B (Stellar’s Dam), WMS Blackcap May 9010 (2397 daughter), SAV Blackcap May 4574(flush sister to Regard), Baldridge Pratissa J932 (Pappy daughter), and Linz Lady 116-8213 (890 daughter) were added with the future in mind by creating a trifecta of Sitz, Schaff, and Baldridge progeny.
It's our long-term goal to hold our own annual bull and female sale at SAC and build a strong foundation that can be succeeded by future Scott generations.
